Alex Mitchell, DPT
Experience:
Alex spent several years working in dermatology as a surgery tech before discovering a passion for healing movement and turning to Physical Therapy, after a shoulder injury let her spend time as a PT patient herself. During her academic career, Alex completed multiple clinical rotations across a variety of settings, including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient orthopedics, and enjoyed all of them. She is particularly interested in neurorehabilitation and geriatrics, as well as academic medicine and the interplay of the different medical professions in healthcare. She hopes to cultivate an interdisciplinary mindset throughout her career in order to better serve patients with their diverse needs and conditions.
Personal Interests
Outside of the clinic, Alex enjoys cooking, reading, running (usually with her supermutt, Bailey), swing dancing, singing, volunteering at her church, and spending time with her husband (usually getting into trouble doing a new home improvement project together). She cherishes any time spent outside and/or with a book in hand. She’s also a two-time Tar Heel and loves watching Carolina basketball.
